The Ki Federation

- Sensei Christopher Hall

- Kenshiro Abbe Sensei

- Sensei Williams
The Federation is a group of dojos who promote traditional values and spiritual, practical Aikido with an emphasis on Ki development. We are all dedicated to the learning the way of aiki and we enjoy our practice and the company of others. We are part of Aikido Yuishinkai, Aikido without boundaries. In an atmosphere of cooperation we train not to defeat and hurt our opponent but in a way where attacker and defender both develop the way of Ai - Ki. We make visitors and new students very welcome and a sense of humour is essential.
The Ki Federation of Australia was founded in 1995 by Sensei Christopher Hall 5th Dan. He has been practicing martial arts for over 38 years. He is indebted to all his aikido teachers and fellow students. They way of Aikido can only be discovered with help from others.
He began studying Judo in 1968 with the Masutaro Otani Society of Judo and later was part of the British Judo Council headed by Kenshiro Abbe, 10th Dan. Abbe Sensei was a student of the founder of Aikido Morihei Ueshiba a Judo champion and a master of Budo. Abbe's philosophy of KYU SHIN DO has been a great influence on our Aikido in the Ki Federation of Australia.
Sensei Hall began Aikido with the Ki Federation of Great Britain under Sensei Ian Bird and the founder of the KFGB Sensei Kenneth Williams. Sensei Williams was a direct student and principle assistant to Abe Sensei. Sensei Williams' teaching left a lasting and profound impression. His soft circular movement and his personal "assimilation" to Ki makes him a true master of Aikido. However in 2003, after considerable thought, Chris Hall Sensei and the Ki Federation of AustraliaIn decided to become an independant organisation and separate from the Ki Federation of GB.
A New Beginning
Aikido Yuishinkai
In October 2004 we attended a seminar with Koretoshi Maruyama 10th Dan. He was formally Chief Instructor and President of the Ki Society one of the worlds largest Aikido organisations. He is extremely well respected and well liked throughout the world. Aikido Yuishinkai and its philosophy of Aikido without boundaries is an inspirational idea. The open minded and accepting nature of it members is a reflection of the original ideas of the founder of Aikido. Maruyama Sensei and Michael Williams Sensei truly are, "creating a path to universal harmony and world peace." Because of this, The Ki Federation of Australia became part of "Aikido Yuishinkai", and follow the teachings of Koretoshi Maruyama Sensei.
Maruyama Sensei was a student of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba. Through his teachings we adhere to what the founder intended Aikido to be. That is a way to peace and a way to unite the world. Aikido Yuishinkai was founded by Master Koretoshi Maruyama to promote universal values and principles of peace throughout the world.
AIKIDO WITHOUT BOUNDERIES Aikido Yuishinkai WORLD WIDE Goals and vision statement
Students from all styles of aikido are welcome to train with us as we are non-partisan in our approach. Friendship with other dojos is encouraged in keeping with the harmonious spirit of Aikido. Aikido Yuishinkai is truly ‘Aikido without boundaries’. The world will continue to change dramatically, but fighting and war can destroy us utterly. What we need now are techniques of harmony, not those of contention. The Art of Peace is required, not the Art of War.
"Contemplate the workings of this world, listen to the words of the wise, and take all that is good as your own."
Morihei Ueshiba
